Following new allegations of sexual assault in D.C., I’ve learned that Bill Rausch created several social media accounts which he used to steer the Maura Murray investigation online and to harass and dox journalists who write about his abuse allegations.
A source close to Rausch was copied on emails in which Bill discussed the creation of fake twitter accounts he used to dox me while deployed at Camp Lemonnier in East Africa where he was in charge of monitoring social media profiles of enemies of the state.
More alarming than the personal attacks is what Rausch has allegedly done with one profile on Reddit. Using the name, DS_Joe_Friday, Rausch commented on various posts about his girlfriend Maura’s disappearance, at times trying to shape a narrative to explain away her disappearance.
On a post by user json32m, titled The Boyfriend Theory, in which a Redditor lists the obsessive phone calls Bill was making to Maura in the days leading up to her disappearance, Rausch writes:
He repeatedly says the Grand Jury that investigated Rausch’s first sex assault case did not exist and was a deliberate fabrication while he knew his former business had been subpoenaed for records.
Under the fake name, he suggests a reason that Maura may have fled UMass that had nothing to do with an obsessive boyfriend or family issues:
He admits to commenting under aliases on forums about Maura since the time of her disappearance:
At times, he belittles himself in order to discount theories that he had anything to do with her disappearance:
He tried desperately to become a moderator on Reddit’s Maura Murray sub in order to limit discussion:
He accuses me of murdering Maura:
It’s possible that Bill’s mother was doing this as well:
I am still combing through other forums for comments made by JoeFriday, in light of this information.
That really creeps me out.
Is his alibi 100% solid?
Holy smokes, James. The fact that he is doing this while on military assignment is reprehensible, but says a lot to me about how invincible he must feel. Yikes.
Let's say the best case scenario for him happens with the sexual assualt charges, that somehow "reasonable doubt" is established, and that the legal system considers it complete coincidence that multiple women have had similar stories of abuse, that also happen to reference Maura.
In that case, do any UCMJ experts know what would constitute a level of obstruction, witness tampering, etc. from Bill's propagandizing that would be sufficient for him to get the "big chicken dinner?"
The Erinn/Bill/etc. stance on all of this is "whatabout." But I believe James has sufficiently explained on reddit his use of aliases.
James, that post by “deleted” was me. That’s my syntax, using quotes around
“Joe M” in such a way. “Joe M”, BTW, was a character who commented at CNH’s
blog, who suggested that MM was a “target” for a perp because her car bore out-
of-state plates.
I knew quickly that “Joe Friday” was not John Smith and wasn’t sure if the poster
was a person of any consequence to the case at all, but it’s not surprising if you
and Gags are correct here.
Does any of this matter? Directly to the case, probably not. More likely it’s just
a drive to protect their names as much as possible. I still can’t see Bill orchestrating
her disappearance in any way. I still think she went up North just to bail for awhile.
Yet, that myriad of calls prior to her disappearance tell another story. As to what,
we still don’t know. Clint thinks there was no call from a landline from another
part of the campus. The cops say otherwise. IF there was a call from elsewhere
on campus, that is Big News. If that call was the thing that freaked out MM,
that would be a big clue. But, yet another lead that was dropped.
Good Luck with the ongoing search. The case badly needs some sort of break if
it’s ever going to be solved. There’s simply not enough information and too much
contrary information going forward. I’m not sure if The Accident Scene photos
will help much. Still a head scratcher as to EMS’ involvement – called too late
and there too short. Dick Guy’s observations are very strange, to say the least.
