In case you missed it, Maura Murray’s boyfriend, Billy Rausch, imploded on social media last night, attacking Missing Maura Murray podcasters and Maggie Freleng, the journalist from Oxygen’s The Disappearance of Maura Murray, putting them on blast until 5 a.m. Likely, this is the sort of thing that will come out in court when he finally goes to trial for sex abuse in D.C. later this year. It’s the unhinged, hyper-focused belittling that his mistress described accurately during her protection order hearing.
As Billy brings more attention to himself, those close to the case have begun sharing more information they’ve been hesitant to share for years.
One thing that’s come out is that Billy was allegedly able to access Maura Murray’s voicemail and listen to a message from Kate Markopoulos to Maura that revealed Maura had disappeared with another man over the weekend. Here’s a quote:
“There was a message from Kate. And it says the story according to Bill with information from Kate is that Saturday after they dropped off Fred, they were out together, the girls went out. Kate and Maura had some drinks. Kate is saying they met three new guys who do not go to UMass and were from out of the area. Apparently they were all talking then at one point Maura and one of the guys were gone. Bill asked Kate about this because one of Maura’s voicemails was from Kate asking what was up with Bill and what happened with that guy the other night.”
It is not known at this time when or how Billy was able to access Maura’s voicemail.
In the past Fred Murray has said that he heard from both Sara Alfieri and Kate Markopoulos that there were three men at the party that night, and that one was Sara’s cousin. He was unable to find out their identities. Apparently, Maura was last seen that night, walking away with one of those men. The next thing we know, she gets into the accident with her father’s car.

Julie Murray released a statement this evening in which she confirms this information to be true. The information came via one of Maura’s friends. Julie goes on to claim that it was Sharon Rausch, not Billy Rausch, who managed to access Maura’s voicemail to get this information.It is unclear why nobody shared this info until now.

Bottom line, we never had issues with VMs, phone records, etc during the search. My mother was the account holder which is why she called Sprint for access to VMs. We printed off the phone records at the police station bc LE were waiting on a subpoena.
UPDATE 2: FURTHER STATEMENT FROM BILLY:
There was no “cheating VM.”
Bottom Line: Access to Maura’s VM was gained after and bc she disappeared. We learned of the three men at the party after Maura disappeared.

Wow, it certainly seems like Kate knows who Maura was meeting that Monday. I never thought “the party” was on campus. Why would they need a car for that? Sara probably claimed to be sleeping at said party because she was never with Maura or Kate that night.
Very interesting. I remember when the phone records were released there was debate over a call Bill made, either the day she went missing or shortly after (I have the logs saved on my broken computer which, until fixed, is unaccessible so I cannot reference the exact call # a.t.m.) on the old forum. Obviously Maura did not answer, but the call was over a minute long, perhaps several. Much longer than it would take to phone someone and hang up after getting voicemail, or leaving a message. My first thought was “I wonder if he knows her password and is listening to her VM, or trying to guess her password”. I was thinking back to my relationship in my late teens/early 20’s, and how when things were tumultuous and my parter was answering, I would sneak & play their VM without them knowing. I had watched them type it in once & it was easy to remember. This is how I too found out I was being cheated on.
I noticed on Reddit Bill is dangling the “Kate-Bait”. Asking if they would like to hear from her, and obviously there are an influx of “Yes, of course!”, “Make it happen, Bill!” replies. Then he responds with the “Unfortunately I don’t think I can convince her, unless Renner moves onto another case”. I’m so sick of seeing his blatant, manipulative tactics and wordsmithing designed to get people riled up and go after you. It’s so transparent, in my humble opinion. He finds a way to insert you some way in a large amount of his comments there, very strange since he is always accusing *you* of being the “obsessed” one.

I think the answers on why Maura left, lie at UMASS and the people she was hanging around.
Question is, why all of those investigating (not simply a disappearance, but almost certainly by now, and for a long time now, clearly a murder or killing) have, apparently on its face, failed to tackle this woman’s (apparent) reluctance and failure to be helpful in relation to helping find out what happened to her (said) friend, Maura. Why, Why WHY???

Looks like you have trouble now with Julie on the maura blog somehow accusing you of getting information for the Oxygen program that was not provided to the Murray family. It involves three men at the party– or possibly the Loon Three—- I don’t know check it out as it’s there for everyone to view.

Strange thing to say ‘ the other night’ I am assuming Kate knew Maura was missing so the question for me is why and when did Kate ask about it.
Why would Sharon access Mauras voicemail? Why hasn’t this information been shared sooner? Very odd … One of Maura’s last phone calls was to her VM and then her phone shuts off. (Londonderry ping) – is odd too.
Kathleen said that she thought Maura went to New Hampshire to sort out her troubles from Bill. Now to find out years later that Bill or Sharon had accessed Mauras VM and found out she had cheated on him. The email that was left on the boxes about Bill cheating could of been a message to him that you had cheated too.
I believe Maura was running away from him. I think it’s strange that all of a sudden, he’s been talking about Maura’s disappearance when for years he said nothing. Is he trying to steer the narrative?

How is someone with his past now seen as the source of knowledge on this case? It’s crazy to me to see people literally jumping to his defense over and over!

Not to stick up for creepy Billy but it only makes sense that on the day of or a little after MAURA ‘S disappearance that Billy and Sharon would think let’s see maybe she left a VM about her intentions ..since the police already were going after her phone records to begin with. Also it appears on Maura’ S phone records that either Billy called her and then she called him back so trying to get into her VM’S sounds not at all suspicious to me. Being a patent of a daughter MAURA ‘S she if I could I would do the same if my daughter was missing…I know Maura’s not Sharon’s dau..but I feel she had good intentions…
I think its strange NONE of Mauras friends have spoken up and put efforts into helping find her. You would think they would be as concerned as thousands of strangers are. Who is Sara’s cousin…and why the hell are Kate and Sara so silent? I hope these 3 guys are found
Ask the first ten young women you see whether they would be as stand-offish in a situation like this, never go up to help in a search, never be a part of any support efforts, and see what you get. I have yet to find even one who says she would’ve done this. And yet people at or near the center of this case keep trying to sell the idea that the people asking obvious and reasonable questions are the ones with the problem.
Sharon pays Maura’s cell phone bill everyone!!! She has every right to look at the records. Was someone privy to the destination & directions of Maura, taking that road & showed up after bus driver left since was no cell phone service for help? Sketchy friends & details…
Yes, that information was given to LE. I know that she planed on being in bath for a few hours and to meet up with for the first time. This person was not even aware that she was looking for them. LE was able to confirm that she never made contact. I do not believe she was meeting any of the boys at that party. She had wanted one of her high school classmates to come away with her. No one was really free to leave their commitments. After a few days up north, She was interested in being with her mother.

Was the computer/machine on which the bizarre email Maura (ostensibly) sent, to one or more(?) professors, actually identified by any of the police investigating? If it was, then has it ever been established, if the police, acted properly in accordance witth evidentiary requirements __ ie. Fingerprints etc? Secondly, since this story/information about Bill Rauchs mother Sharon, having (apparently) accessed Maura’s Voice Mail and (allegedly/ostensibly) heard that Maura had been with another man over the weekend, is it known at this present time if the police (cold case unit or any other) have yet interviewed her or Bill? Indeed was Bill or his mother ever required to take a lie detector test? Thirdly, in relation to the party at which (OSTENSIBLY) Maura and several friends/colleagues (OSTENSIBLY) met 3men,including (OSTENSIBLY) the man referred to in the apparent VM, how is it possible that the police were not able to trace even one of these, and, why, did they (apparently) make very little effort to pursue/tackle Maura’s (said) friends and or colleagues, and they (the police) were (apparently also) unable to obtain information from anyone else present that should have helped them find these 3 men of significance?????? Lastly, in deference to Maura also in addition to working as a nurse and a security guard, apparently, (from reading between the lines _ while open to correction) it also seems, to me, that the police neglected or failed to make any, or reasonably credible inquiry, on, or along, these lines. If these observations are correct, question is why? And if correct what (if this being a contributing factor) influence was impacting on them, at what level, and from whom? Hoping these observations, generate some new ideas that may help in the search for the (almost certainly) Murderers/killer(s) of Maura.
