Erinn Larkin, who works directly with the family of Maura Murray, is contacting journalists and podcast guests claiming to be an advocate for the victim that won a protection order against Billy Rausch last year. She says she is reaching out on behalf of her friend, the victim. She then asks to have the information about the protection order removed from the web.
Erinn, of course, is no friend of the victim. She was actually listed as a witness for Billy’s defense in that matter and handed over private emails and text conversations that could be used against the victim in court. Erinn later publicly claimed that the victim was never scared of Billy, even though the victim’s lawyers revealed this text from the victim to Erinn in court:
“I said to Erinn, I don’t know what’s happening, but I feel very unsafe.”
Though she represents herself as the victim’s friend, here’s what the victim had to say in court:
Q: “Okay. And in fact you’re friends with Erinn Larkin, isn’t that right?”
A: “I’m not friends with Erinn Larkin.”
This new, bizarre deception comes at a time when friends of the Murray family have expressed their concern that the family is being taken advantage of by those with ulterior motives. Erinn regularly monitors confidential tips given to the Cold Case Unit and publicly raised funds were used to support a search that used magic fingernail guns.
A P.I. who worked with the family threatened the life of an NPR reporter last month. The podcast Missing Maura Murray immediately removed an episode featuring this investigator. However, two episodes of Erinn’s podcast featuring Guy Paradee remain and the Murray family has not condemned his threats. That’s tacit permission to the crazies that they can continue to do what they’re doing.
What the Murray family could use is a professional victims advocate and spokesperson. Any takers?
What is up with Erinn and Bill??? Why is she suddenly come out of the wood work to just stick up for billy and draw attention away from him? Something doesn’t smell right…
I tried listening to Erinn Larkin’s podcast about a year ago and got through 2 and a half episodes before just saying “NOPE.” During the whole 2020 Covid time I have jumped down the Maura Murray rabbit hole again and decided to just listen to her whole podcast for the sake of trying to get all the information that is out there, considering her name is always out there in the conversations in the MM community. I am horrified by her entire approach to this case. I have been angry while listening to the entire thing. She is constantly claiming that everyone else involved in the case has ulterior motives yet she seems to be the one who does. She has tried to skew any narrative or theory thrown out there by anyone else doing research on the case and has confused a ton of information out there with her narrow minded approach.
Her constant claims of how there is no evidence of Maura drinking and the red liquid is coolant in her opinion. Her consistent badgering of Cecil Smith throughout multiple episodes based on her very biased look at the police records and witness accounts. Her friend Ethan who just agrees with every single thing she says no matter what it is. Her guests who she has on the show who she just leads down her path of questioning and they are all drinking the same kool-aid with no objective approach.
I am from MA, had close friends who went to UMASS who lived in the Southwest dorm towers (including Kennedy) who I stayed with overnight multiple times on weekends throughout my 4 years in college, and my husband also went there and ran track there starting 1 year after Maura’s disappearance and I have asked him questions about things that she has brought up in her podcast, and his answers have been different than hers. So many times I have been shaking my head at Erinn’s adamant descriptions of how things were or how things worked at UMASS that are inaccurate.
Then to top it off, her victim blaming episode where she publicly calls out BR’s accuser for lying and making the entire thing up because of an email the victim wrote to her with a different story initially, which she read aloud on her podcast and then called the woman a liar. I am close with someone who suffered from an abusive relationship for a long time, and saw how it is common for the victim to try and cover up the actions of their abuser at first, even so far as going to do it publicly by speaking to perhaps someone like Erinn. Erinn has no idea what has gone on behind closed doors and my skin was crawling listening to her accusing this woman of lying about BR’s abuse, when realistically it was probably the email the victim wrote to Erinn initially where she covered up the abuse and told a different story that was the lie. Erinn thinks everything she thinks is a fact, and everything everyone else thinks is the lie, when the information she has is just as skewed, if not more than everyone else’s.
I am not sure what Erinn is trying to accomplish here or how she has gained MM’s family’s trust, but after listening to her entire podcast I am convinced that there is something amiss with her. Her motives are not pure. She has acted condescending and polarizing in the community and needs to be stopped.
