Someone has gone to great lengths to create a very convincing fake of a post from my old blog about the Maura Murray case (see above). This post circulated online today and at first it even fooled me. The font and colors are the same and they did a good job mimicking the flow of my writing. But I had no recollection of this tip.
The mistake they made was using May 7, 2011 as the date. I didn’t start the blog until June 2011 (see below).

Nice try, though. If you see a post like this, let me know. The only confirmed posts are archived on this website.
Keep up the good work James
I agree. Very good work and interesting books. Thank you, James! Keep going!
Well……
Hopefully you sent this to the FBI.
All this crazy crap needs to stop and the sadistic troll needs to be identified.
This lawsuit is absolutely nothing more than a wild goose chase by certain people.
I am getting really tired of it all.
Someone desperately wanting to rewrite history?
Wanting to confuse old tips in terms of:
* the identity of the person reporting,
* the info being reported
* any pattern in tips reported (info or style)
* potential relevance of the tip to the case
Mud gets stirred up all the time in this case – leaving things murky and hard to see the way ahead.
On we go.
*Please don’t post this*
I wanted to message you, but didn’t want it on twitter because of the kooks.
You make a very good point about EDL and others being so worked up about something you wrote six years ago. Imagine though, if you wrote a NEW book about MM, “the MM, community”, and the people the Murray’s associate with? I think you should. There’s more than enough material, and if you started looking into things more proactively, actually investigating the case again, imagine what you could find, and how they’d react? Plus, publishing a book is a much bigger loudspeaker then a blog and your twitter account. The additional lawsuits they would file would only would only amplify the book’s message. And maybe the publisher could help with that? You’re getting crapped on for a six -year-old book and getting nothing in return and nothing is happening with the case. Fight them with facts, excellent reporting, and persistence. They won’t know what hit them
I’m sure I’ll write about it some day.
Hi, James. I am a true-crime fan and just finished listening to your interview concerning the Maura Murray case on blog talk radio with Dan Zapansky. It is a very interesting story, and I was online trying to find any possible updates on the case if there are any. I plan to buy your book, True Crime Addict due to this particular interview with Dan. I am halfway through the ten years of Dan`s awesome shows. I wish you much luck in solving all missing persons cases. Such a very sad topic but one that must be looked into.
Weird that they would pick Plymouth. It’s about an hour from Marengo.
