One of our readers, a talented artist named Suzanne, took it upon herself to interpret Maura Murray’s mugshot and make it less “creepy.”
Her original watercolor painting is a reflection of the “true” Maura we’ve seldom seen, a woman capable of things we can only imagine.
This is more creepy than the mugshot
I actually feel like that is more creepy looking than the mugshot, lol.
Very well done! But certainly this is no less creepy than the original.
Dear lord – thats creepier still
Very nice watercolor work, but the very pale complexion in the face + the hair being pulled back looks 10x creepier as a painting.
I do like the work, though.
Yikes. I can just see that face saying "I'm running. And you will never, ever catch me. Ever." I think there is a side to Maura no one wants to discuss, mostly because they're the ones who created this side. I've gone through hell recently and my appearance has changed as a result of it. This is the face of a girl battling a lot of demons, something that can't be seen if you've only seen the stunningly beautiful Maura Murray. Once you see something like this painting, it becomes a lot easier to realize this is a girl who was on the run; a girl who left and never intended to come back. Great work.
Good job — does what art must do: opens the doors of perception, throws open the windows and lets in fresh air. Does it "look like" MM? Who cares; it's not a photograph. Kudos, Suzanne. Your interpretation has refreshed the enterprise.
Beautiful watercolor! This artist seems to have had the best intentions on creating a less "creepy" likeness of Maura, yet it seems, sadly there is no way to hid the pain behind that photo that the artist had to work from. Kudos for staying true to her art. The artist could have "prettied her up" but instead did a very realist image. That EMPTY STARE ,almost as if Maura is "looking through you" is captured so well here. I don't know if it's any Creepier than the mugshot? Defiantly much more stunned sadness comes through. To me at least, it is a portrait of a woman on the edge.
Great watercolor painting. Too bad these weren't the type of photos, paintings put out in the beginning of Maura's disappearance.
Nothing like Maura… Horrible
Agreed ..it's creepier… disturbingly so.,…
