New to this site? Here are some new facts about the Maura Murray case that will get you up to speed with the investigation into her disappearance.
– As a West Point cadet, Maura got caught stealing from the commissary at Fort Knox. She was found responsible for the crime and would have been expelled but was allowed to withdraw, instead. This is how she ended up at UMass Amherst.
– At the time of her disappearance, Maura was on probation for credit card fraud, having been caught stealing credit card numbers to order pizza in the dorms at UMass.
– A week before she went missing, Maura placed a call to the home of a woman in Weymouth, whose job was investigating claims of child abuse.
– Maura and Billy were not engaged at the time of her disappearance. Billy had cheated on her. And Maura was having an affair with one of her track coaches.
– Maura inquired about a two-bedroom condo the day she disappeared.
– A cashier in Woodsville, NH believes she saw Maura the day she disappeared, with two friends.
– The bank was foreclosing on Fred’s home the week Maura vanished.
– Mass Track Administrator believes Maura ran away.
– A search warrant suggests someone called Maura’s phone from New Hampshire the day she disappeared.
– A bank teller found an open and active account connect to Maura Murray in 2011.
– The police officer who found Maura’s car ended his life by suicide. He had been slandered by conspiracy theorists who work with the Murray family.

My daughter and I will be traveling to New Hampshire in August. We want to stop and see where Maura Murray disappeared. Haverhill has 4 locations. North/Center/East and Haverhill. Do you know the closest place where she disappeared. I believe I read it was off route 112, however I don’t see any Haverhill off route 112. If you can help it would be appreciated.

Thank you so much.
It goes through Haverhill in the Northeast corner.
Only 2 places to look: a) she planned to meet someone “there” for a long weekend. If so, she would have called sometime to “confirm details”, thus check phone logs over the prior 7 days, else someone was at the party that she confirmed details. Either way, suspects are limited. b) she really needed her time of silence to clear her head and went out on her own. Thus she is alive and well. (Unlikely, because I too believe the tandem driver theory and she was driving a crappy car and didn’t need to drive far to find a place to get away). Thus we are back to A. Lastly…the police know who did it because they are really the only people who actually KNOW the FACTS. they can’t prove it yet however. We all just know stuff that police have released “as true”. But we all know, just because the police said it was true in the release of information, it mY not be because they may try to flush out additional information.
How on earth did she get into the UMass Nursing program, as a junior, when she had been a CE at WP, and only three semesters at that.
The Nursing program requires one start as a freshman, you cant transfer into it. So how did she?
IF she did — or did she think she had and later found out that she wasnt in it? UMass is notorious for the latter.
Thats where you start with this…
I just learned about this case today. I’ve heard only a few things, but a few questions come to mind.
1. How much time elapsed between the major events of the disappearance? Do they have a good estimate of when exactly she crashed her car? I’ve heard that a bus driver stopped shortly after the crash to ask whether she needed help. What time did he stop? He apparently went home and called 9-1-1 because he thought the situation seemed suspicious. What time did he call 9-1-1? How long after he called did the first law enforcement officer arrive?
2. How much traffic does this road get? How much would it have gotten on that day? Was the disappearance publicized locally? Did anyone contact law enforcement to say that he/she was driving past the accident before law enforcement arrived? If witnesses saw the accident before law enforcement arrived, did they see her with her car? Did they see other cars on the road? Did they see anyone else stopping to help her?
3. Was there snow on the ground that day? Did anyone see footprints in the snow?
4. Did she appear to be drunk or concussed by the accident? This question is mostly for the bus driver who spoke to her but would apply to anyone who else who stopped.
