Billy Rausch, Maura Murray’s boyfriend at the time of her disappearance, was indicted by a grand jury in D.C. in April, 2019 for felony sex abuse. The alleged attack occurred in the office of the President of Ray Group International, in 2011. Due to Covid and the machinations of his attorney, Billy has managed to delay his court case for three years. A hearing set for March 18 may finally begin the process of justice for his victim. Here’s a timeline of the events that led to this moment:
2003: At UMass Amherst, Maura Murray was involved in an affair with a track coach, in whom she confided that she wanted to run away and start a new life. She told him that one reason she wanted to get away was due to Billy Rausch’s controlling behavior. “She felt she couldn’t get away from him. He wanted her to be in certain places at certain times. He’d check up on her. He was very demanding.”
2004: A few months after Maura Murray disappeared, Billy allegedly attacked and threatened a woman with whom he was having an affair while stationed at Fort Sill. At a stoplight, she says, Bill reached over and grabbed her by the neck and said, “I’m going to kill you like I killed Maura.”
2011: While working at Ray Group International, in D.C., Billy creeped out the women in the office. One believes he destroyed her ultrasound photograph. The women took to giving him two different names, because they believed he showed different personalities (one he used whenever another man was around, one he used when he was alone with women). The night of St. Patrick’s Day, a coworker alleges that he tried to force her to have sex in the office. When the assault was interrupted, he told her not to say anything and then hid under a desk. An investigation was performed by an outside company. Billy was no longer employed by the company soon after.
2017: By 2017, Billy had risen to director of Got Your Six, a Veterans outreach group in D.C. Due to the change in attitudes around sex assault following the MeToo movement, Billy’s victim from Ray Group went to the D.C. Metro Police and filed a police report and a new investigation began. Police subpoena’d the original investigation at Ray Group. After an interview with his victim was published on my website, Billy lost his job and Got Your Six shuttered.
Valentine’s Day, 2018: Billy calls 911 after a woman with whom he’d been having an affair received a contusion to her head. Billy traveled to the hospital with her and was then when she was questioned by staff.
August, 2018: Billy travels to Camp Lemonnier, in East Africa, to do psy-ops work for the U.S. Army. Part of his job was to use Twitter to monitor enemies of the state. But he also used Twitter and military hardware to stalk and defame me, creating fake accounts, all of which he later admitted. While at Camp Lemonnier, he allegedly created a toxic work environment, according to soldiers who served with him.
April, 2019: Billy is indicted and arraigned in D.C. Superior Court. On his way to D.C. from Camp Lemonnier, he pleads with his mistress to erase all conversations and videos she may have, in anticipation of subpoenas.
Summer, 2019: Billy’s mistress files for a civil protection order after he begins to stalk her. While she is filling out paperwork at the police station, someone using Billy’s mother’s social media accounts tried to intimidate her.
November, 2019: Following three days of contentious hearings, during which Billy’s lawyer Nikki Lotze had the victim watch a sex tape on the stand, a judge ordered Billy to pay for the woman’s security system and attend 22 domestic violence classes. The victim claimed that Billy liked to have her playact as Maura Murray and would then choke her, calling her a slut. On at least one occasion, Billy’s friend from West Point, who worked for the Trump White House, had sex with her as well, and sent him pictures of bruises he left on her body.
Following the release of the protection order transcripts, Murray family advocate Erinn Larkin tried to have the details scrubbed online. Erinn Larkin had befriended Billy’s mistress, and is alleged to have secretly recorded her on occasion. Erinn Larkin’s podcast was removed by her distributor after she used her podcast to defame this woman. She also asked the victim to return a necklace that Billy had given her, which may have led to the protection order being extended last year. Texts between Erinn Larkin and Billy are alleged to show Billy asking Erinn for sex.
May, 2020: Billy’s wife officially divorces him in a Virginia court. The records are under seal. Billy’s mistress alleges that he told her his wife asked him if he killed Maura, prior to finalizing the divorce.
December 30, 2021: Billy’s case was transferred to Judge Rainey Brandt. A hearing is set for March 18.
Thank you James. Was there also an alarm clock with a hidden camera that Rausch wanted returned. Just wondering if it is not in the dorm room photos from Kennedy Hall at Usss Amherst.
